Medical Administrative Assistant

Medical Administrative Assistants are the first point of contact and ensure the efficiency of operations in medical, dental and clinical environments. The MAA is charged with administrative and supportive functions. As an MAA, some of your duties may include:

Reviewing and answering practice correspondence
Operating computer systems or other types of technology to accomplish office tasks
Answering calls, scheduling appointments, greeting patients, and maintaining files
Updating and maintaining patient and other practice-specific information
Coordinating, collecting and preparing time and attendance reports

*Employment of secretaries and administrative assistants is projected to grow 12 percent from 2012 to 2022, about as fast as the average for all occupations. Many job openings will result from the need to replace workers who leave the occupation. Those with a combination of work experience and computer skills should have the best job prospects.
